Where to tailor vests and jackets in Kuwait & how much fabric do I need?

One of the things that will not change in tailoring & sewing is the challenging time a person in Kuwait faces to find a suitable tailor to tailor a winter dishdasha, and for me it is more difficult to understand how a tailor or cutter acts when trying to  tailor a vest or jacket for the winter season without any controversy.

This article will focus on technical & basic issues that we advise you to look into when going to a tailor shop, whether in Kuwait or in Fahaheel. Most tailors in Kuwait are stressed or packed with orders this season, so we advise all visitors who are going to the tailor & fabric markets to make sure the tailor is available to sew a dishdasha or a vest at a convenient or appropriate time before buying any textile materials. We will also talk about the bespoke tailoring of suits and coats to cultivate a culture of tailoring and a customer awareness campaign in the field of sewing.

The winter season has come early this time of year and this is the first time we witness winter starting in the late month of October, and this means winter is going to be long in Kuwait. I highly advise citizens and residents to wear jackets and coats to stay warm at night especially if you're visiting the rural areas of Kuwait. Khamco Tailor specializes in tailoring jackets and vests for men in Kuwait and we have a tailoring team to sew men's clothing along with a unique digital system for QA/QC and to monitor the progress of new orders.

One of the things that distinguishes us in the fabric market from our competition is that we offer the best Alpaca fabrics and new modern winter designs for the season and you can see this when visiting our store in Kuwait City. Khamco offers many options that you can add when tailoring such as iron buttons, zippers, hidden buttons, horn buttons, unique lapel designs, your choice of lining, and the comfort style that suits you.

We urge all customers when dealing with a tailor shop to ask as many questions as possible to the tailor or the person who's taking your measurements to list all the details you are looking for in stitching clothing. At Khamco we provide the client with a few options for tailoring such: the type of sleeve, the number of buttons for a jacket, the number of internal pockets, the sleeve design, the length of the garment, the width of the lapel, the thickness of the inner sponge, the type of filling, the colors of threads and strings, and finally if you want a relaxed, loose, or fit garment according to the customer's desire.

At Khamco, we strive to display all the possible options you can have so the client feels the tailor in front of him is aware of the technical factors when sewing or stitching as well as to highlight the client's potential to choose a new design according to what he wants. By doing this we are able to reduce the number of adjustments and amount of changes required for tailoring men's clothing.

When bespoke tailoring suits or coats, you will notice that there is a huge difference in the price of tailoring suits compared to other garments because the tailoring process requires a lot of time to sew these types of clothes that need to be in accordance to the customer’s requests. The best way to calculate how many meters you will need to sew winter clothes will depend on which garment you want to tailor. I will be giving a simple summary on how much meters of fabric are needed for suits, vest, and according to the required clothing.

The most important measurement you will need is the "chest length" and you can take this measurement from the top shoulder height to the lowest point under the abdomen around the waist and you will take this measurement using measuring tape on a vertical style meaning from top to bottom over the chest & stomach. For long coats, formal jackets, and two-piece suits (blazers & pants)  you will need to take the "overall length" size, which is taken from the top of the shoulder to the floor while standing upright.

To tailor a vest (waistcoat) you will need approximately 2.25 times the measurement of "chest length", if this measurement is about (0.65 meters) the tailor will need (1.47 meters), and the length required to sew this garment will vary based on the body type. For tailoring long coats or two-piece suits you will approximately 2.50 times the measurement of "overall length", if this measurement is (1.50 meters) the tailor will need (3.75 meters).

Every measurement calculation that has been mentioned depends on the width of the person, because larger people or people with huge bodies will differ in terms of this calculation. I hope this article will guide you to understand the basic things to know when sewing vests and winter clothing. Please be advised that the following empirical formulas mentioned are meant to be a guide and are not a definitive measurement metric that a tailor has to follow.

Some men’s tailors have a different system they work with of calculating fabric yardage and this calculation varies depending on the design, the tailor may require an extra meter to sew additional pockets or more things. I hope this article helped you in identfying how much fabric you need for sewing or tailoring clothing.
