How to Tailor Flags & where to buy Kuwait Flags?

After a lengthy search about designing and making flags as well as sewing them with the tailors, we noticed that there is not a lot of important information online about the installation and sewing of flags, so we as Khamco Tailor decided to write some helpful instructions and our feedback in regards to this subject.

We will firstly talk about how to tailor flags in terms of sewing and cutting, how to install loops and holes within the flag, fixing the flags to the flagpole, how to design the foundation base, welding important parts onto the steel flagpole, connecting the flag loop with the rope in a proper way, and information that is related to that matter. All this information will increase the lifespan of the flag if you plan to put it outside.

Firstly, when you want to sew a flag of a large size, I strongly recommend sewing two flag fronts together and using double sewing stitches, so that the threads and string do not disintegrate with time due to weather or the sun. In terms of the thread - use a thread made of the same material as the flag fabric, for example, if the fabric is polyester, use polyester based threads.

The end of the flag should be made of a strong material or fabric such as canvas, so it does not to tear with time. To fix the loops or rope on the flag properly, make sure the rings are made of a thick copper or iron, in order not to twist the metal with too much tension and not to rip the flag fabric easily. You can find such rings in Ace Hardware stores, try avoiding low quality rivets or grommets.

Secondly, when installing the flag outside, you should use a thick white rope twice the length of the column, also make sure the flagpole is made of a thickened steel material. The welder must weld a loop to the bottom of the column as well as on the top of the column, the top one is used to tie the rope to and the bottom is used to raise the flag. The upper loop is where you will place the flag that is tied to the rope and raised to the top, while the second loop of the flag will be tied with an iron chain as an additional weight and in order for the flag to hold upright without moving too much. The person who does this must take into account the safety and wellbeing of the pedestrians, so that the mast does not fall and the flag does not fly away from the column due to wind. Make sure that there is a filler or fusible filling inside the flag to strengthen the grip of the grommets.

Thirdly, when designing national flags, you have to take into account the sizes and proportions of symbols or shapes in order to sew flags according to the flag constraints of that country. Some countries have logos that you must print accurately to satisfy customers needs and to avoid prosecution or insults that may be encountered by not embroidering the logo correctly. Metal rings or grommets should be installed using a hole  puncher device for piercing the fabric and then use a dye machine to fix the grommet correctly with all its parts and components together.

Regarding the concrete base or foundation, the contractor must use a simple equation to find out the minimum depth of the flagpole in order to pour concrete efficiently. To install the flagpole, the hole must have a depth that is equivalent to: the length of the flagpole multiplied by 0.105 for normal conditions and 0.225 for critical conditions that involve extreme weather conditions.

And the last piece of information that many do not care about is tying a cotton rope around the iron chain, so it does not scratch the flagpole column with time. When fixing the flag with the rope you have to put an iron sling or carabiner between them, so the fabric does not tear easily due to the friction of the rope with the flag fabric.

In conclusion, I wanted to assure you that the overall work should be put on a steel column and most flags should be replaced every year or so because the sun and weather wears the fabric with time. In the end, please do not forget to buy flags made of good quality fabric, so the colors do not change with time.  For any advice or for more information regarding making flags, please contact us and we will be glad to assist you.
